Where We Came From
In July 1979, Remote Computing Corporation (RCC) through its Merlin
time-shared computer service, made available to the investment
community a fundamental stock evaluation model, the Value Point
Analysis (VPA) model, and a companion stock technical analysis
model, the Stock Technical Evaluation Model (STEM). These two
proprietary models were developed by the author of this site, and
specifically designed to address the two basic aspects of stock
analysis, i.e. fundamental and technical analysis.
STEM was also used by Merrill Lynch in the early 1970's, and by
E.F. Hutton and Dean Witter in the mid 1980's for evaluating
large numbers of individual stocks on a daily and weekly basis,
using the Merlin data base.
